We all work together to make St Paul’s a community that is a witness to God’s love and hands on the beautiful heritage of the church to future generations. To get involved, please contact the office on 03 352 9571 or admin@stpaulspapanui.org.nz
Church services
Our church services rely on volunteer involvement. We all contribute. Volunteers help lead services, read Bible passages aloud, welcome people to the church, lead hymns and songs by playing musical instruments or singing, assist with distributing communion, and preparing morning tea.
Graveyard and gardening
St Paul’s has a large historic graveyard that is also an oasis of quiet in the city. Volunteers work make this a welcoming garden. They weed regularly, prune bushes and roses, cut grass borders, rake leaves, and care for the garden throughout the seasons of the year. There are several notable graves, alongside the graves of little children, whose grieving parents buried them too early.
Open Church
The church is open to the public regularly. If you can commit to being there for two hours a week to supervise the church, welcoming visitors and showing them the church, then that might be a role for you. Note, that we do not keep the church open in winter, when it can get quite cold in such a big building.
