St Paul’s Papanui is an Anglican Church that has been providing Christian worship for the people of Papanui since 1853. It has a traditional evangelical outlook and is part of the Anglican Diocese of Christchurch.
This means that we acknowledge the authority of the Bible in all matters of belief and conduct. We adhere to the historical confessions of the Christian faith found in the Apostles’ and Nicene Creeds. We therefore value
biblically-based preaching and teaching that enables the Word of God to speak into our lives week by week.
Our worship services range from a traditional Prayer Book service with 2 hymns at 8.00 am to a 10.00 am service that includes a singing group and some more contemporary songs. In each of these we follow our Anglican tradition of liturgy that includes reverent and comprehensive worship based in our Prayer book but with room for flexibility.
We receive both children and adults for baptism and welcome all Christians to the Lord’s Table.
St Paul’s is a place of prayer, worship and joyful celebration of life; it is an ideal setting to begin married life with God’s blessing. We are therefore glad to offer Christian wedding services at this beautiful church.
We extend a warm welcome to all who wish to visit or join our parish family.
