We are a suburban Anglican congregation in the Christchurch suburb of Papanui. We have a strong evangelical tradition and are committed to faithful Bible teaching, heart-felt worship and fellowship, and a prayerful engagement in mission, locally and overseas. We believe that the message of Jesus Christ is the best news anyone could wish to hear as in our experience it offers real hope and healing in people’s lives. Our services vary in style, from the more formal liturgical service at 8 o’clock to a less formal service with contemporary music at 10 o’clock. We would love for you to join us and, as always, visitors are more than welcome.
HISTORY: St Paul’s Papanui is an Anglican Church that has been providing Christian worship for the people of Papanui since 1853. Our Bell Tower has a full peal of 8 bells which were installed in 1880. Our church is surrounded by a large cemetery, which provides a peaceful oasis in which to sit and rest in the midst of the busy Papanui business area.
The church is committed to preserving its history for future generations and has produced a number of publications – downloadable below. Alternatively hard copies of the documents are available from the Parish Office.
