September is Mission Month. One of the ways we can participate in mission is through prayer. To facilitate such prayer Anglican Mission’s publishes a booklet called Partners in Prayer (in our library corner, or available online at angmissions.org.nz). This and other resources can enlarge our horizon and our prayers so that we can be part of God’s mission in the world.
In his introduction Rev Michael Hartfield, the National Director Anglican Missions writes:
‘Against a backdrop of global uncertainty and unease; weariness, anxiety and sadness brought on by Covid and growing social and economic upheaval caused by climate change (which for many of the communities we work with is a present reality rather than a distant threat) we need to hold onto hope. Through all this turmoil and change, Christians across the globe are praying. Sometimes those prayers are full of hope and an unshakable trust that things will come right in the end. Sometimes those prayers may be full of anger and frustration.
Both sorts of prayers are valid and needed.
At Anglican Missions we see the very best of humanity
(e.g. committed people living in difficult situations dedicated to putting others first) and the worst of situations (e.g. places rife with poverty and unfairness.)
Let us hold on to the hope we say we have and not be changed.
We can trust God that He will do what He promised. Let us help each other to love others and to do good.’
